How We Help

Six Pillars of Veteran Support

We address the full spectrum of social determinants that affect Veteran wellbeing — connecting you to verified resources across every area of need.

Mental Health Navigation

Finding the Right Mental Health Support

We help Veterans and their families navigate the landscape of mental health resources — from VA mental health services and Vet Centers to community-based counseling and peer support programs. Our Navigator connects you to verified providers based on your needs and location.

Key Resources

  • VA Mental Health Services
  • Veterans Crisis Line (988 press 1)
  • Vet Centers (community-based counseling)
  • SAMHSA Treatment Locator

Housing Stability

Safe, Stable Housing for Veterans

Housing instability is one of the most significant risk factors for Veteran mental health crises. We connect Veterans to HUD-VASH vouchers, emergency shelter programs, transitional housing, and VA Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) through our verified resource network.

Key Resources

  • HUD-VASH Housing Vouchers
  • VA Supportive Services (SSVF)
  • HUD Housing Assistance
  • Local emergency shelter referrals

Employment & Education

Career Transition and Education Access

Transitioning from military to civilian employment is one of the most challenging aspects of Veteran reintegration. We connect Veterans to workforce services, GI Bill education benefits, vocational rehabilitation, and employer networks that value military experience.

Key Resources

  • VA Education Benefits (GI Bill)
  • VA Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment
  • American Job Centers (CareerOneStop)
  • Student Veterans of America

Legal Assistance

Legal Support and Benefits Navigation

Veterans face unique legal challenges — discharge upgrades, benefits denials, housing disputes, and family law matters. We connect Veterans to accredited VSOs, legal aid organizations, and pro bono attorneys through our verified resource directory. S.A.V.E. does not provide legal representation.

Key Resources

  • DAV (Disabled American Veterans)
  • National Veterans Legal Services Program
  • ABA Lawyer Referral Directory
  • State legal aid organizations

Financial Stability

Benefits, Compensation & Financial Resources

Many Veterans are unaware of the full range of benefits available to them. We provide education about VA disability compensation, pension programs, SNAP, LIHEAP, and other financial assistance programs — and connect Veterans to accredited VSOs who can assist with claims.

Key Resources

  • VA Benefits & Services
  • Social Security Disability (SSDI/SSI)
  • SNAP Food Assistance
  • LIHEAP Energy Assistance

Community & Peer Connection

Belonging, Purpose, and Peer Support

Social isolation is a critical risk factor for Veteran suicide. We support community connection through peer support networks, Veteran service organizations, and community events that foster belonging and shared purpose among Veterans and their families.

Key Resources

  • DAV Chapters
  • Student Veterans of America
  • Local Veteran service organizations
  • VA Caregiver Support Program
